Embarking on a journey to the ancient Kingdom of Mustang promises an unforgettable experience for every rider. This adventure blends the thrill of adventure with the rich cultural tapestry of this remote region. The journey begins in Kathmandu, where you will meet your guides and prepare for the adventure ahead. After flying to Pokhara, permits are processed, and the motorcycles are inspected before embarking on a scenic ride through the diverse landscapes of Nepal.
From the lively streets of Pokhara to the picturesque village of Lete, the ride features winding mountain roads, panoramic views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, lush forests, and traditional villages. As you continue toward Lo Manthang, the landscape transforms into a high-altitude desert, with ancient caves, Tibetan-style monasteries, and breathtaking Himalayan vistas.
Exploring Upper Mustang is a remarkable experience that offers a rich cultural and visual feast. The rugged beauty of the region, with its dusty trails, cliffside monasteries, and remote villages, feels truly otherworldly. Highlights of the journey include visiting the Choser Cave, the Nepal-Tibet border, and spending time with nomadic families to gain insights into their unique way of life.
After two days of exploration, the return journey offers new trails and equally stunning views as you ride back to Lete, Tatopani, and eventually to Pokhara. Arrival in Kathmandu - Arrival
Arrival in Kathmandu After your arrival in Kathmandu, an Offroad Nepal crew member will be there to pick you up at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu, Nepal. The crew member will take you to the hotel where you will stay tonight. In the evening, you'll have dinner with the Off-road Nepal crew members and introduce the guides and crew.
Kathmandu - Pokhara - Flying Day
On this day, we fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara to apply for the Upper Mustang permits, which will take a day to obtain. During the day, we inspect the motorcycle, and if any adjustments are needed, we'll make them. In the evening, we relax, and the next day, early in the morning, we start our ride.
Pokhara - Lete - Riding Day
Pokhara - Lete (135 kilometres / 83 miles) Riding a motorcycle from Pokhara to Lete is an exhilarating journey that unfolds through diverse terrains, encompassing bustling streets of Pokhara, rural countryside with terraced fields, curvy mountain roads offering thrilling twists and turns, panoramic views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, lush forests, quaint villages reflecting local life, dramatic river valleys with cascading waterfalls, and significant changes in altitude, culminating in the picturesque village of Lete surrounded by majestic mountains.
Lete - Lomangthang - Riding Day
Embarking on a motorcycle journey from Lete to Upper Mustang unfolds through ascending mountainous roads, revealing breathtaking views, traversing the high-altitude desert landscape of Mustang with its dusty trails, ancient caves, and cliffside monasteries, passing through charming Tibetan-style villages, and providing panoramic Himalayan vistas, culminating in the isolated beauty of Upper Mustang, where riders can explore ancient architecture and immerse themselves in the unique cultural richness of this remote region.
Lomangthang Explore - Rest & Local Ride Day
This day, we'll be exploring the famous cave of Lomangthang Choser. After that, we'll be heading to the Nepal-Tibet border, which is just 25 kilometres from Lomanthang city and at an altitude of 4600 meters.
Further Exploration of Lo Manthang - Rest & Local Ride Day
We'll explore the area around the Lomangthang. We'll visit the Nomadic Family to see their lifestyle and way of life. On this day, we'll explore other terrains and the unexplored trails of the Lomangthang.
Lomangthang - Lete - Riding Day
This day, we'll be riding back to Lete after exploring Lomangthang for two days. On the way back, we'll be taking different trails and overnighting at See You Lodge.
Lete - Tatopani - Riding Day
The motorcycle ride from Lete to Tatopani takes riders through scenic descents, picturesque rural villages, and lush landscapes alongside the Kali Gandaki River. It culminates in the tranquil village of Tatopani, known for its natural hot springs, which provide a soothing atmosphere and cultural richness amid the Himalayan backdrop.
Tatopani - Pokhara - Riding Day
On this day, we'll head back to Pokhara, taking a happy-ending trail back from Pame, crossing the Fewa Lake, and relaxing.
Pokhara - Kathmandu - Flying Day
After all the long ride we fly back to KTM and in the evening we'll have a farewell dinner and say good bye.
Depart from Kathmandu - Departure
With unforgettable memories and new friendships made, it’s time to depart from Kathmandu and fly back home. Safe travels!
